DocPreviewer™-- Major Revamp of Acrobat® PDF & Outlook® Integration
Based on capabilities released in earlier versions of CaseMap® case analysis software, DocPreviewer is a richly expanded tool that operates seamlessly within CaseMap 8. You can use DocPreviewer to review batches of emails in minutes, automatically populate key players into a CaseMap Cast of Characters, link PDF emails to those characters and more:

Self-Service Review for Everyday Cases
The vast majority of
litigation matters involve only a limited number of discovery documents,
including email and documents. However, receiving even just a few CDs of
electronic files can complicate an attorney’s ability to conduct timely
review and respond to a request. Enter DocPreviewer. It’s never been easier for an
attorney to review email discovery documents. With DocPreviewer, all you
have to do to uncover document relevance is launch CaseMap and select an
Outlook® inbox or folder. DocPreviewer handles the rest. Included with DocPreviewer is
a Microsoft® Outlook email-to-PDF bulk conversion utility, enabling you
to convert messages that are located in multiple Outlook folders to PDF
in one batch. Your email attachments are embedded in each PDF. The PDF
files with the email metadata easily import into CaseMap. With DocPreviewer, you don’t have to learn complex software to accomplish everyday email discovery review.
Full disclosure
You get the ability to cull facts from PDFs and send them to CaseMap and use the DocPreviewer Review Mode. Plus, if you have Acrobat 6 or better Standard or Professional you can send multiple PDFs from Acrobat to CaseMap--still no charge.
There is an additional subscription cost for DocPreviewer if you want Bates Stamping and the ability to convert emails to PDF. If you already own a current subscription for the CaseMap Plug-in PLUS for Acrobat, you will receive the DocPreviewer upgrade automatically, as part of your subscription. If you are not currently on the subscription plan (or are unsure of your status), and would like to place an order for this upgrade, please write to casemap.sales@lexisnexis.com for pricing.
User Interface Overhaul
User Interface is the
technical term for what you see on your screen when you use CaseMap.
We've given CaseMap 8 a Microsoft® Office 2007 look and feel that is, we
hope, familiar and comfortable. The navigation panel has been changed so
that Favorite spreadsheets appear on top and all the spreadsheets in the
case file appear on the panel with a mouse-click. Friendlier Spreadsheets
You'll notice right away when
you open the Hawkins example case or convert one of your cases to
CaseMap 8 that the spreadsheet looks different. Rows appear in
alternating shading to make it easier to track info across the
spreadsheet. Select a record and all fields with buttons for a drop-down
menu or other tool display the available buttons. Every record on every
spreadsheet with a linked file always displays a paper clip, even if the
record is not selected! Not sure what a field is for?
Float your mouse over the header and get a handy header hint. Taking CaseMap on the Road? Bring Along Your Docs!
You'll find taking a case
replica and a set of linked documents on the road is as easy as one,
two, three with the new Create Replica Wizard. The wizard takes the
guesswork out of putting a replica and a folder of linked documents on
your laptop so you can unplug and go. You also have the option to
save the replica elsewhere on your network. Getting Started Is a Snap!
Open CaseMap and an interactive panel gives you tips on using CaseMap right away. Links on the panel point to concise explanations of basic tasks in the case analysis process.
Reports Just Keep Getting Better!
CaseMap has always been known for its practical and polished work product. In CaseMap 8 we keep raising the bar with a new Reports Menu, Privilege Log Wizard, and Group by Object Reports.
It's never been easier to
produce a Privilege Log in Word. All you do is launch the Privilege Log
Wizard on the Reports menu and let it be your guide. The wizard
facilitates production of a report listing documents you've marked as
privileged under attorney-client, attorney work product, or any
privilege type you determine. Customize fields you want in the report in
no time at all! Produce a "By Object" report using a wizard for facts grouped by document, facts grouped by person, documents grouped by person, and more!
Guided Search is Simple!
Import a set of documents
into CaseMap with the ability to quickly and simply define where the
coded info from your source document database will go. Once you've
defined how you want your documents linked CaseMap will remember your
settings for the case so subsequent imports and updates will be a
breeze. Print PDFs Linked to Facts--and More!
Need hard copies of documents linked to facts? You'll have them within minutes using CaseMap 8's batch processing options on the Facts spreadsheet.
That's Not All, Folks!
You'll find a host of improvements and re-works as you move around in CaseMap. If you have any comments or questions, please write us at casemap.support@lexisnexis.com.
